(Promoting Hyogo with Habatan)

(Washington Office)

On the evening of September 23rd, the closing ceremony of the Japan – America Grassroots Summit was hosted at the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington Hotel and had around 500 participants.

It was officiated by local KING5 newscaster Lori Matsukawa and opened with a performance by Navy Band Northwest. Because it will be hosted in Hyogo next year, Habatan appeared along with Chief Executive Officer Katayama of the Hyogo Prefectural Industry, Employment & International Affairs Department. As representatives of the hosting region, they gave a presentation and invited the participants to Hyogo. We heard from host families and other Americans in attendance that they think Himeji Castle looks wonderful and they would like to participate next year.

  • The Japan – America Grassroots Summit is an exchange event around 1 week long which is held every year by the Center for International Exchange in Japan & America to deepen mutual understanding and friendly relations.
