The Mukogawa Fort Wright institute celebrated its 25th anniversary this month in Spokane. Representatives from local universities, citizens of Spokane, and past host families gathered together for a total attendance of around 280 people! Every year, the Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute organizes over 200 host families for more than 500 students. President Ogawara of Mukogawa University started the ceremony with greetings and a heartfelt thank you to the citizens of Spokane for their continued effort in supporting the Institute. President Ogawara was followed by a performance of the Soran Bushi, a traditional Japanese sea shanty and dance, performed by students. The sister city relationship between Spokane and Nishinomiya has continued for 54 years and will surely continue to support exchange between the people of both regions.
